Introduction
SwitchComm replaces the current Medcomm, and is packed with new and enhanced features. SwitchComm is a windows based communication program used by DHSwitch clients as a mechanism to transmit claims and to receive feedback reports on the status of these claims. SwitchComm makes use of Telkom’s ViP-Dialup network. ViP-Dialup uses a single telephone number and calls are billed at local rates regardless of their origin.
The following are some of the SwitchComm features DHSwitch clients enjoy:
- Used on a stand alone PC or on a network.
- Used with Windows 98, 2000, XP or NT server/workstation.
- Connections to the Switch are possible via analogue modem, ISDN Modem or direct IP.
- Can submit one or more batches per connection.
- Submits for more than one doctor per connection.
- Configured to connect in real-time or batch mode.
- Upgraded remotely via the Switch.

The connection and data transfer methods used by SwitchComm enables faster data transmission.
Easier to Use
SwitchComm has a brand new look that allows easy navigation through the use of screen tabs.
New format for Electronic Remittance Advices (eRA’s)
The format in which electronic remittance advices display and print has been enhanced to accommodate additional information provided by participating schemes. This will enable you to reconcile your claims quicker and to easily identify rejected claims together with the reasons for rejection. In addition, you can with ease retrieve archived advices and reprint them at any time. Soon your PMA will be enabled to automatically allocate the eRA payments and rejections returned via SwitchComm to the relevant claim lines on individual patient accounts.

You will now be able to:
Connect with any type of connection, including improved ADSL connections.
View statistics on files transmitted on screen instead of searching through your computer’s folders.
View details of last batch sent and received on screen.
With the new Switch Report Manager you will be able to receive and view messages from Switch, including attachments, which will allow us to communicate with you via SwitchComm.
Improved Supportability and Maintenance
The new SwitchComm will allow us to manage support calls much faster and more efficiently by making the technical information used by our Helpdesk personnel available on the screen. SwitchComm will also have the ability to upgrade automatically whenever a new version is released, which means that you will not have to upgrade using a CD.
SwitchViewer
SwitchComm includes SwitchViewer that provides the functionality to either view or print feedback reports and Electronic Remittance Advices. Feedback reports detail the status of claims submitted to medical aids through the switch and are a valuable claims management aid.
